Glossary

This glossary will help you better understand the technical terms and key concepts used in the *Prehistory of the Future* project. As artificial intelligence is a complex and evolving field, these simplified definitions will guide you in exploring the issues and technologies presented.

Glossary:

1. Artificial Intelligence (AI):
A set of techniques that enable machines to perform tasks typically reserved for humans, such as image recognition, natural language understanding, or decision-making.
2. Machine Learning:
A subfield of AI where machines learn from data without being explicitly programmed for a specific task. These systems improve as they are exposed to more data.
3. Replicant:
A term used in Blade Runner 2049 to refer to artificial beings created in the image of humans but programmed to obey. Replicants are often used to explore the boundaries between humans and machines.
4. Strong AI:
The concept of artificial intelligence with capabilities equal to or superior to human intelligence. Unlike narrow AI, which is specialized in specific tasks, strong AI could perform any cognitive task a human can.
5. Technological Singularity:
The hypothesis that a time will come when machines surpass human intelligence, triggering exponential growth in technological capabilities and radically transforming society.
6. Algorithm:
A sequence of instructions or formal rules for solving a problem or completing a task. In the context of AI, algorithms enable machines to process data and learn from it.
7. Neural Networks:
Mathematical models inspired by the functioning of neurons in the human brain, used in machine learning to recognize complex patterns in data.
8. Automation:
The process by which manual tasks are performed by machines or software, often powered by artificial intelligence. Automation is used in various sectors, from manufacturing to logistics and services.
